ORDINANCE NO. • <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Everett City Code, Chapter <br /> 7.04.020, also known as The Fire Prevention Code (Ordinance No. <br /> 4114, Section 3) for the purpose of eliminating conflict with the <br /> Uniform Building Code as adopted by the City of Everett. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> SECTION 1: That the Everett City Code, Chapter 7.04.020 <br /> of the Fire Prevention Code (Ordinance No. 4114, Section 3) is here- <br /> by amended in full to read hereafter as follows: <br /> 7.04.020 Dangerous buildings and conditions--Section 1.5 <br /> amended. That Section 1.5 of the fire prevention code recommended by <br /> the American Insurance Association, 1965 edition, is hereby amended to <br /> read as follows: <br /> Section 1.5. Dangerous buildings or places defined and de- <br /> clared to be a nuisance, and standards of repair and correction or <br /> demolition. <br /> All buildings, structures , premises , places and yards which <br /> have any or all of the following conditions, shall be deemed dangerous <br /> buildings or places and are hereby declared to be a nuisance and <br /> shall be repaired, corrected, vacated, removed or demolished as here- <br /> inafter provided. <br /> (a) Dangerous or unlawful amounts of combustible or ex- <br /> plosive or otherwise hazardous material; <br /> (b) Hazardous conditions arising from defective or improper- <br /> ly installed equipment for handling or using combustibles or explo- <br /> sives or otherwise hazardous materials; <br /> (c) Dangerous accumulations of rubbish, waste paper, boxes, <br /> shavings, underbrush or other highly flammable materials; <br /> (d) Accumulations of dust or waste material in air condition- <br /> ing of ventilator systems or grease in kitchen or other exhaust ducts; <br /> (e) Obstructions to or on fire escapes, stairs Of passage- <br /> ways, doors or windows, liable to interfere with the operations of the <br /> fire department or egress of the occupants in case of fire; <br /> (f) Any building or structure which by reason of age or <br /> dilapidated condition or for want of repair is especially liable to <br /> fire or spread of fire; <br /> (g) Any building failing to have automatic or other fire <br /> alarm apparatus, or extinguishing equipment, sufficient to protect <br /> life and property from fire; <br /> (h) Any building having inadequate facilities for egress in <br /> case of fire or panic and having insufficient stairways , elevators, <br /> fire escapes or other means of communication; <br /> (i) Hotels and apartment houses more than one story in height <br /> with transoms or ventilating openings from guest rooms to public <br /> corridors . <br /> The following standards shall be followed in substance by the <br /> fire marshal in ordering repairs, corrections, vacation or demolitions : <br /> (a) If the dangerous building or conditions can reasonably <br />
