Box 69050
Sealtle, WA 98168-1050
Re: ELEVATOR SHAFT PROTECTION
Loc: Children's Museum
1502 Wali Street
Mr. Rayner
This is to confirm that the elevator shaft at the above noted address is not
required to be a fire-rated enclosure. The special provision of Uniform Building
Code Section 711.3 allows openings that penetrate only one Floor to be
unenclosed. Glazed openings into the shaft walls are therefore ailowed to be
unprotected.
If you have any questions regarding this interpretation, please do not hesitate to
call me at (425) 257-8812.
Sincerely,
--
 // ;_
y R.
