ORDINANCE' NO. /o ' <br /> AN ORDINANCE relating to the municipal water supply system <br /> of the City of Everett, providing rules and regulations for <br /> the operation and control of said system, regulating the supply <br /> and use of water therefrom, providing for the sale of same, <br /> fixing the charges therefor, providing a method of collecting <br /> charges therefor, providing a method of joining collection of <br /> other utilities charges of the City, setting forth terms and <br /> conditions for the use thereof, providing for delinquent charges <br /> and claiming a lien therefor, providing for certain special <br /> charges and penalties for violations and repealing all other <br /> ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, declar- <br /> ing an emergency and establishing the effective date of this <br /> Ordinance to be May 6, 1965. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: Water Department Formed. The City Council hereby <br /> acknowledges, ratifies and confirms the prior establishment and existence <br /> of a sub-division within the Department of Public Works which is known as <br /> the Water Department: That said sub-division shall continue within said <br /> Department and under said name. <br /> Section 2: Purpose. It shall be the purpose of the Water Department <br /> to provide for the construction, operation and maintenance of all necessary <br /> and desirable collection, diversion, impoundment, transmission, treatment, <br /> storage and distribution facilities to produce and convey a potable water <br /> supply to all inhabitants of the City of Everett and such surrounding areas as <br /> the City Council may determine, for domestic, commercial, industrial, and <br /> manufacturing purposes. <br /> Section 3: Definitions. The following words and terms occurring <br /> repeatedly throughout this Ordinance shall be held and construed to have the <br /> meanings set forth in this Section. <br /> a. Water Department: Shall mean that duly created and organized <br /> administrative and operational sub-division within the Department of Public <br /> Works of the City of Everett. Use of this term may refer to the organization <br /> -1- <br />
