- <br /> - • r h <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3934. <br /> AN ORDINANCE directing Gerald Burke to attend the Wash- <br /> ington State Legislature in Olympia, for the purpose of reporting <br /> to the Commissioners of the City of Everett the introduction and <br /> progress of all bills affecting the City of Everett, and declaring <br /> an emergency to exist. <br /> WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Washington is no <br /> in session, and <br /> WHEREAS, numerous bills affecting the general welfare <br /> of the City, both directly and indirectly, have been and may be <br /> introduced and passed, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Commissioners deem it for the best interest <br /> of the City, of Everett that they be kept fully informed as to the <br /> introdUqtiOnalt4 progress of all legislative bills which may <br /> affect the City of Everett, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Water Department has a vital interest <br /> !tin all legislation affecting the department, and particularly the <br /> ilconstruction of a multipurpose dam in the Sultan Basin being <br /> :constructed jointly by the City of Everett and Snohomish County <br /> !!Public Utility District No. 1, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Gerald Burke be and is hereby directed <br /> Tito attend the Washington State Legislature now in session in <br /> 'Olympia, Washington, for such period of time as the City Council <br /> °'shall direct, and report to the City Commissioners of the City of <br /> !Everett the introduction and progress of all bills which may affect <br /> #the City of Everett directly or indirectly, and which may particu- <br /> larly affect the Water Department of the City of Everett and the <br /> construction of a multipurpose dam in the Sultan Basin being con- <br /> structed jointly by the City of Everett and Snohomish County Public <br /> 'Utility District No. 1 . <br /> Section 2: That Gerald Burke is hereby directed that <br /> :he shall confine his activities solely to making his report as <br /> 'above set forth, and shall not engage in any activity which shall <br /> ,`.constitute lobbying or the influencing of legislators in the <br /> ,method and manner in which they shall cast their vote. <br /> Section 3: Gerald Burke shall be allowed his regular <br /> salary plus food and lodging while required to be in Olympia, <br /> Washington, to be evidenced by detailed statement of expenses . <br /> Section 4: That an emergency is hereby declared to exist <br /> sand this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publica- <br /> tion. <br /> MAYOR47/7-,5,L ,‘,/ <br /> Attest: <br /> ` Ctn.
