There were approximately 135 businesses of which 110 had been con- tacted and residents in the area and about percent had been con- tacted. Almost all the merchants feel this progranhis a good program. He said the Engineering Department will be coming'kb the Council shortly with a contract for the consultants to do the working drawings for tle iMprovement. He said the Evergreen Way area is in the final two weeks of the survey. The owners would-like curbs,they want more control of traffic and a lower speed zone. The customers don't like the lighb,poles,the signs and the great amount of traffic. CRIMINAL JUSTICE CODE PROPOSED REvISION Dick Thompson,City Attorney,brought the Council up-to-date on what MO been discussed with the criminal code revisions so far. They then • went to Article I,General Provisions,Section 2,Purposes and Principles of Construction. He also discus,.with the Council Section 5 Which cov- , ered punishment of offences and the various classes of punishment. They • then reviewed Article VI,Assault and Related 0100!000 specifical- • ly with Section 43,Assault;Section 44,Menacing;section 65,Harassment; and Section 44,Recklessly Endar..... • President Ebert said she would schedule a full morning or afternoon work- shop to discuss this code further. ThomPson in answering a question of Councilman Lenges reported the .online,to secure the Monte'Cristo Hotel buil:ging was under the ous building code and to do anything with the grounds,etc.the city would have to get permission from the owners to go on their property• There would be no way to receive compensation for taking care of the area,though.
