• December 1,1982 <br /> • <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order <br /> at 8.30 a.m.,December 1982,in the Council chambers of the <br /> Everett City Hall,President Pope presiding. Upon roll call it <br /> was found that Mayor Moore and all Councilmenmere in attehdance <br /> . except Councilmen Gipson and Overstreet,who were excused. <br /> ,,dnutes of the meeting held November 24,1982,were approved as <br /> . printed with President Pope abstaining from voting. <br /> NEW POLICE OFFICE& • <br /> • A new police officer,Dwight Snyder,was then given the oath of office <br /> by the City Clerk. <br /> PILC REPORT • <br /> mayor moore reported briefly on his attendance at the National League • <br /> of Cities meeting in Los Angeles. He said 2,200 cities were <br /> represented with over 7,000 delegates. He said it was a very in- <br /> . formative and productive meeting. <br /> • <br /> ! Councilman Stephenson felt the City was very fortunate tImt Everett <br /> does not suffer from the human misery kind of problems that are <br /> occurring in the inner cities,primarily out of ignorance on the part • <br /> ! Of the local officials on how to pursue getting the federal funds <br /> that are available. The workshops were of great benefit to those <br /> .. cities. However,he felt the City of Everett was far ahead of the <br /> other cities in this area. He said that he would like to see the <br /> City become more active in international trade and volunteerism, <br /> obtaining contributions,loaned executives,etc.,and he hoped there <br /> . would be more work done towards obtaining foreign trade. <br /> FOOD BMX <br /> Bertha Patapeff,-of the Volunteers of America,thanked the City for <br /> 4 • ita contribution to the food bank. Councilman Aldcroft informed the <br /> Council that the$10,000 discussed at the budget hearing had been <br /> - designated as 338 to Salvation Army end the balance to Ne Volunteers <br /> . food bank. <br /> Bill Cushman explained that the money was coming from unused Human <br /> Needs contracts from as far back as 1975. There was money available <br /> today and the checks would be written. <br /> .• <br /> moved by Councilman Aldcroft,seconded by Councilman Stephenson, .• <br /> • <br />!!, that these agencies be notified Neir contracts were terminated Nd <br /> Ne monies will be allocated for oNer purpose.. • <br /> • <br /> Roll was called with all Councilmen voting yes,except Councilmen <br /> Gipson and OveNtreet,who were excused. <br /> Motion Carried <br /> ,• <br /> • <br /> • <br /> • <br />
