58 <br /> 10 1 <br /> February 16,1983 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order <br /> at 8:30 a.m.,February 16,1983,in the Council Chambers of the <br /> Everett City Hall,Preeident Pope presiding. Upon roll call it was <br /> found that Mayor Moore and all Councilmen were in attendance,except <br /> Councilman Aldcroft,who arrived after the meeting was in progress. <br /> Minutes of the meeting held February 9,1983,were approved a:: <br /> printed. <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> In accordance with Councilman Aldcroft's request at last week's <br /> Ceunori....tin,Mayor Moore proclaimed February 18,1983,as"Rosalynn <br /> Sumners Day"in the City of Everett. <br /> =:Morf:::nlerA'rs'Aar:aLP=Wg;::124 Irth=== <br /> area. <br /> COUNCILMEN'S CeMMENTS <br /> Councilman Overstreet reported that 4 members of the redisiricting <br /> committee had been appointed and they would be meeting some place next <br /> week to chose the Sth member. Any communications regarding this issue <br /> I should be directed to Senate ea.House caucuses in Olympia. <br /> He also reported that today and tomorrow would be AWC Days in Olympia <br /> and also commented that the Everett Chamber of Commerce would also be <br /> down there,and said he felt it would be important to give them input <br /> to encourage community redevelopment financing by supporting S.119 <br /> and H.28. <br /> Co.cilman Langus spoke of the legislature's consideratlon of amending <br /> the fireworks laws. There will be a meeting tomorrow morning in <br /> Senator'Vognild's office and copies of the City's recent resolution <br /> will ne distributed. <br /> Counci.an Overstreet cammented that he did rot feel that the legis- <br /> lature was in step with the City on this as they were approaching it <br /> frogs enforcement of possesion rather th.making it illegal to sell <br /> certain typee of fireworks. <br /> Councilman Overstreet also spoke on the movement to reduce tourism <br /> funding,comenting that felt these monies for this purpose were <br /> a good investment for the future. <br /> SPECIAL COUNSEL APPOINTMENT <br /> Moved by Councilman Stephenson,seconded by Councilman Gipson,CO concur <br /> with the City Attorney's recommendation and appoint the firm of Preston- <br /> Thorgrimson as special counsel to assist in the Hillis Homes v.City of <br /> Everett lawsuit,charges to be paid by the Sewer Fund. <br /> P ZUe'l:On7se,'Itdvnet: TnrgunTlant'Uicnit7XreraT'ate'm„r <br /> Motion Carried <br /> !' 1 <br />
