All councilmembers were in <br /> attendance except Councilmember Langus who was excused. Mayor Moore <br /> Waa also excused. <br /> The proposed ordinance is based upon an ordinance adopted by Dublin <br /> California. Jim Iles, Assistant City Attorney,stated the proposed <br /> minimum maintenance ordinance authorizes the Code Enforcement <br /> Officer to request private property owners, including tenants, to <br /> remove certain misances, such as trash, discarded furniture, old <br /> 1 afrta=beYcF17"tile T4'f: V102:t;':„."%:= <br /> Examiner. In the event the Examiner requires the violator to remove <br /> the nuisance and the violator fails to do it, the City can remove <br /> the nuisance and lien the property. <br /> iountt]]seelecllPsoneeked If <br /> • <br /> .• <br /> ggnra"elp in the <br /> n" <br /> .• <br /> Dennis Derickson, Planning Director, said that the proposed <br /> ordinance will provide a more efficient tool to handle the present <br /> backlog problems more effectively. Another code enforcer position <br /> was added to the 1989 budget and filling this position will also <br /> speed up the process. Mr. Oerickson stated the goal is to <br /> accomplish voluntary compliance. The biggest problem is with <br /> absentee property owners. <br /> Councilmember Gipson and Councilmember Pope both inquired about <br /> • including the removal of overgrown vegetation on vacant, abandoned <br /> and other properties. <br /> • <br /> Mr. Iles stated that is certainly a valid consideration. The <br /> definition of vegetation may take some time but always could be <br /> added as an amendment to the ordinance. He stated the proposed <br /> ordinance provides a good base to start finding solutions to the <br /> minimum maintenance problems. <br /> Councilmember Diamond questioned the restrictions regarding <br /> tablethe <br /> location of camper tops and felt that drivewaya may be an accep <br /> location. <br /> =itIT:arrei:TT:dco=iclaVg:tVifnl gisci=i2tinon!'fld'elt <br /> Viola Oursler, 351 Pilchuck Path, spoke on the problems her <br /> neighborhood has been having with offenders of minimum property <br />• maintenance.
