19 <br /> January 20,1990 <br /> President Popo called the council meeting to order January 20,1990 <br /> with Mayor Ninon and all councilmen in attendance except Councilman <br /> Moser who was excused. <br /> He said this was a continued hearing on the proposed rezone ef the 1 <br /> Merrill Creek property. He again asked that anyone wishing to speak <br /> to fill out a sign up sheet and he would call them in order. <br /> The City clerk then swore in all the citizens who wished to speak. S.E. spoke in favor and said the <br /> benefits of having single family housing will aid many people and <br /> the multifamily housing will add that many more. <br /> Jeff Van Den Top of 9404 36th Ave. S.E. spoke in favor of the <br /> project. <br /> Scott Gordon of 9404 36th Ave. S.E. had just bought a home and <br /> while building, had difficulty renting a home because he had three <br /> children. He felt this would a great project and would serve the <br /> needs of the community. <br /> Rich Meitzner of 824 E. Lake Stevens Road spoke in favor of the <br /> • <br /> project. <br /> Gary Santiford of 5725 Glenwood Dr. urged the council to deny the <br /> rezone. <br /> Jennifer Shaw of 1050 Crown Or. said there are not enough funds to <br /> Improve the streets prior to this project going in. None of the <br /> studies include Intermet or some of the other developments going in <br /> so the impact of the traffic has not been properly addressed. She <br /> urged the council to deny the rezone. <br /> Jack Pursell, labor liaison between the united Way and the Central <br /> Labor Council spoke of the overall housing needs and spoke in favor <br /> of the project. <br /> • <br />
