1 <br /> 458 <br /> December 9,1992 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to <br /> order at 8:30 a.m., December 9, 1992, in the City Council <br /> Chambers of the Everett City Hall, Vice President Anderson <br /> presiding. Mayor Kinch and all councilmen were present except <br /> President Gipson who was excused. <br /> Councilman Campbell led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> Mayor Kinch announced that the flags were flying at half mast <br /> today in rememberance of Clarence Hatch, Tulalip Tribes Tribal <br /> Manager. The Mayor proclaimed December 9, 1992 as "Clarence <br /> Hatch Remembrance Day" and urged citizens to recognize the <br /> important contributions that Clarence Hatch has made to the <br /> Tulalip Tribe and the entire community. <br /> MAYOR'S COMMENTS <br /> Sarah France introduced Helen Fieeston, Business and <br /> Professional Women's Association, who has worked hard to create <br /> ollPortunities and support networks for women in Orefeseions and <br /> general businesses. Mrs. Beeston presented Mayor Kinch with a <br /> certificate of award and recognized him as a role model in <br /> providing opportunities for women CO city government. <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> Councilman Overstraet related that the Mayor's presentation on <br /> our neighborhood program was outstandingly receiVed at the <br /> National League of Cities conference. A theme discussed at the <br /> conference was "Cities and Education." Councilman Overstreet <br /> urged that we need to focus on buidding a good relationship <br /> with our schools. Nei, year's theme will be "Cities and <br /> International Trade." <br /> Councilman Pope as liaison to the Fire Department informed <br /> Council that there was need for an additional Assistant Fire <br /> Marshall instead of a. Fire Pletection Engineer. The budget <br /> reflects Fire Protection Engineer; however, that will be <br /> changed to Assistant Fire Marshall. <br />
