June 13,2001 <br /> The regular mating of the Everett City Council was called to order at 8:30 am, <br /> June 13,2001,in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall,President <br /> Simpson presiding. Upon roll call it was found that idaior Hansen and <br /> Councilmembers Anderson,Simpson,Warnock,Gipson,Campbell,Pope and <br /> Overstreet were present. <br /> City Attorney Soine led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the Ame 6,2001 City Council maatiog were approved as printed. <br /> CouneEmembers Gipson and Overstreet abstained from the vote. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Hansen stated that he and Council President Simpson attended a <br /> presentation by the Everett Community College on its proposed master plan.The <br /> Mayor also attended the annual Welsh Platt Awards Banquet honoring 12 <br /> outstanding young athletes from the area <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Councihnernber Pope thanked the volunteers and Park OWaruaeot staff who <br /> spat last Saturday planting flowers along Mukiltso Boulevard at Forest Park. <br /> Councimember Gipson congratulated the Everett Girls'High School Crew Team <br /> who took first place in the National Championships. <br /> Councilnember Anderson stated that he and Council Director Deb Williams <br /> recently applied fora grant from the National League of Cities'Institute for <br /> Youth.He stated that the grant was submitted in a timely manner along with <br /> numerous letters of support from the community.UeUmmately,the City was not <br /> twarded the grant.The awards were granted to after school youth programa rather <br /> han programs for children at risk which the City applied for.He thanked all <br /> those individuals who were involved in the application process. <br /> 210 <br />
