July 20,2002 <br />•• A special meeting of the Everett City Council was celled to order at 3:00 <br /> p.m.,July 20,2002,in the City Council Chamber of the Everett City Hall, <br /> President Hatloe presiding.The purpose of the special meeting being to <br /> break the tie vote on the final two candidates in order to fill the vacancy in <br /> City Council Position No.1. Upon roll call it was found that President <br /> Ha0oe,Council Members Olson,Gipson,Overstreet,Pope,Campbell <br /> re present.Mayor Anderson was excused from the council selection <br /> process. <br /> President Hatloe gave opening remars and explained that there was a <br /> deadlock vote at the special meeting,July 17,2002 and council members <br /> had been given an opportunity to break the deadlock. One council <br /> member has indicated he wishes to break the deadlock vote. <br /> The City Council then proceeded to vote on the two finalists as follows: <br /> Madan Krell received affirmative votes from Council Members Olson, <br /> Overstreet,Pope,Campbell and Hatloe.Brenda Stoncipher received an <br /> affirmative vote from Council Member Gipson. <br /> Council Member Olson expressed that both finalists are highly qualified <br /> and would serve the community well and It is important for the City <br /> Council to come to a consensus and move forward <br /> Council Member Overstreet stated that both candidates are fine <br /> candidates and will serve the citizens well.Madan Krell brings experience <br /> from the Office of Neighborhoods and has recently worked on obtaining <br /> the All America Cities designation. <br /> Council Member Gipson stated that the resumes of the finalists em very <br /> impressive.He requested that his vote not be taken in a negative way. <br /> Brenda Stonecipher would make a good council member. <br /> Council Member Pope Stated that the Selection process has been az good <br /> process and the Council needs to work together on behalf of tEe citizens. <br />• <br /> 231 <br />•• 1 <br />
