May 25,2005 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 8:30 <br /> a.m.,May 25,2005 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall, <br /> President Krell presiding. Upon roll calla was found that Mayor <br /> Stephenson and Council Members Krell,Hatloe, Gipson, Nielsen, <br /> Stonecipher and Overstreet were present. Council Member Olson was <br /> excused. <br /> Council Member Nielsen led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the May 18,2005 Everett City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephenson explained that at last week's city council meeting Mr. <br /> Benson,Delta Neighborhood,had questions regarding the neighborhood <br /> clean up program funding and the possibility of COBS funds not being <br /> available in the future. <br /> REPORT—COBS FUNDING <br /> Debra Wright,Neighborhoods and Community Services,reported that the <br /> neighborhood clean up program for the Delta Neighborhood would be <br /> funded this year with Community Development Block Grant funds and that <br /> next year their neighborhood cleanup would be funded as part of the <br /> Code Compliance cleanup program. She further stated that Congress <br /> has not yet acted on CDBG funding.In the event that this funding is not <br /> available atter next year the neighborhood will be notified. <br /> Council Member Overstreet related that the National League of Cities <br /> representatives are urging federal officials to preserve the Community <br /> Development Block Grant program. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Nielsen stated that last Friday was Bike to Work Day. <br /> He indicated that he and Mayor Stephenson as well as others participated <br /> 147 <br />
