i • . 1 1 OPDINANCE No. 3092 • AN OT:DINANCE submitting to the qualified electors of Everette a municipal corporation, for adoption or rejection a proposed Ordinance fixing the hours of labor for certain members and employees of the Fire Department of the Cite of Everett, at a special municipal. election to be held on the first 'Tuesday following the first I.ond.ay in November 1946, and requesting the Election Board of Snohomish County, V ashington, to call said election, at said time for the sub- mission of said proposed Ordinance to said qualified Electors of Everett, and declaring an emergency. p'3I-i ?EAS, an initiative petition; duly signed, has been I presented to the City Council of Everett, requesting the passage or submission to the qualified Electors of Everett , of a proposed ordinance dealing with the hours of work of certain employees ; and 1,THEREAS, the City Council of Everett desires to submit said proposed Ordinance to the qualified Electors of Everett, a municipal corporation, for adoption or rejection, 1 N07', TT' REFORE, THE CITY OF EVEtETT DOES ORDAIN: 1 Section 1: That the following proposed Ordinance be presented Go the qualified Electors of Everett , a municipal corpora- tion, for adoption or rejection, to-wit: Section 1: That from and after the 1st day of January, 1947, the firemen and employees of the Fire Department of the City of Everett , other than the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Master Mechanic , Alarm Operators and the members of the Fire and Police .signal Division, shall be divided into Two ( 2) platoons each to perform twenty-four (24) hour service commencing not before Eight (8) o'clock A. M. , and ending not later than eight (8) o 'clock twenty-four (24) hours later. No member of the Fire Department shall be required to serve in excess of an average of sixty (60) hours per week, such time to be computed on the annual basis. Excepting that in the event of great, threatening or unusual conflagration, or other such emergency the Fire Chief, his assistant or other person in charge or commend. of the Fire Department, shall have the power and authority to summon such firemen and employees as may be off duty to assist in the protection of life and property. Nothing in this act shall cause any reduction in the salaries in effect in the Fire Department January 1 , 1947 . Section 2: Section 1 ofOrdinance No. 1758 is hereby repealed, and all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances thereof, insofar as they may be in conflict with the provisionsof this Ordinance, are Ihereby repealed.
