i • . <br /> 1 <br /> 1 <br /> OPDINANCE No. 3092 • <br /> AN OT:DINANCE submitting to the qualified electors of Everette <br /> a municipal corporation, for adoption or rejection a proposed <br /> Ordinance fixing the hours of labor for certain members and employees <br /> of the Fire Department of the Cite of Everett, at a special municipal. <br /> election to be held on the first 'Tuesday following the first I.ond.ay <br /> in November 1946, and requesting the Election Board of Snohomish <br /> County, V ashington, to call said election, at said time for the sub- <br /> mission of said proposed Ordinance to said qualified Electors of <br /> Everett, and declaring an emergency. <br /> p'3I-i ?EAS, an initiative petition; duly signed, has been <br /> I presented to the City Council of Everett, requesting the passage or <br /> submission to the qualified Electors of Everett , of a proposed <br /> ordinance dealing with the hours of work of certain employees ; and <br /> 1,THEREAS, the City Council of Everett desires to submit said <br /> proposed Ordinance to the qualified Electors of Everett, a municipal <br /> corporation, for adoption or rejection, <br /> 1 N07', TT' REFORE, THE CITY OF EVEtETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 1 <br /> Section 1: That the following proposed Ordinance be <br /> presented Go the qualified Electors of Everett , a municipal corpora- <br /> tion, for adoption or rejection, to-wit: <br /> Section 1: <br /> That from and after the 1st day of January, 1947, the <br /> firemen and employees of the Fire Department of the City <br /> of Everett , other than the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, <br /> Master Mechanic , Alarm Operators and the members of the <br /> Fire and Police .signal Division, shall be divided into <br /> Two ( 2) platoons each to perform twenty-four (24) hour <br /> service commencing not before Eight (8) o'clock A. M. , <br /> and ending not later than eight (8) o 'clock twenty-four <br /> (24) hours later. No member of the Fire Department shall <br /> be required to serve in excess of an average of sixty (60) <br /> hours per week, such time to be computed on the annual <br /> basis. Excepting that in the event of great, threatening or <br /> unusual conflagration, or other such emergency the Fire <br /> Chief, his assistant or other person in charge or commend. <br /> of the Fire Department, shall have the power and authority <br /> to summon such firemen and employees as may be off duty to <br /> assist in the protection of life and property. Nothing in <br /> this act shall cause any reduction in the salaries in effect <br /> in the Fire Department January 1 , 1947 . <br /> Section 2: <br /> Section 1 ofOrdinance No. 1758 is hereby repealed, and all <br /> Ordinances or parts of Ordinances thereof, insofar as they <br /> may be in conflict with the provisionsof this Ordinance, are <br /> Ihereby repealed. <br /> ISection 3:This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force on <br /> January 1, 1947 , <br /> 1 <br /> f <br />
