ORDINANCE No. 3c-77 <br /> AST ORDINANCE submitting; to the qualifies electors of Everett <br /> a proposed amendment to Section 62 (a ) of the Charter of Everett re- <br /> lating to the raising of funds for the operation of the Everett <br /> Public Liurary, at a special election to be held on the First Tues- <br /> day following the Firstt_onday in November 1946 , and requesting the <br /> Election Board of Snohomish County, ..ashington, to call said election <br /> at said time for said purposes. <br /> 1J1EREAS, Section 62 (a) provides that the city council <br /> shall levy each year for the maintenance and improvement of the <br /> public library and its branches a tax of not more than 1.25 mills; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, said fixed levy does not provide sufficient funds <br /> for the operation of the library; and <br /> :FHERE. S, the needs o_+' the library fluctuate from time to <br /> time ; and <br /> {;BEREAS, the City Council is desirous of amending Section <br /> 62 (a ) of the Charter of Everett to provide for the appropriation <br /> each year by the City Council of such funds as shall be deemed <br /> necessary for the operation of the public library. <br /> Nn, TI REFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That the proposed Amendment to Section 62 <br /> (a) of the Charter of Everett relating to the raising of funds <br /> for the public library of p,verett be submitted to the qualified <br /> electors of Everett at a special municipal election to be held on <br /> the First Tuesday following the First Monday in November 1946. <br /> Section 2 : That Section 62 (a ) be amended to read <br /> as follows: <br /> Section 62 - Funds. <br /> (a ) The city Council shall appropriate each year such <br /> funds as it shall deem necessary for the operation, maintenance and <br /> improvement of the library and its branches. <br /> Section 3: 'I he form of the ballot to be used at said <br /> election shall be as follows: <br /> �T?
