CE providing for an increase in the salaries of the various officers, assistarts, deputies and employees of the City of Everett as a bonus for the period beginning July 1, 1943, and ending Decenber 31, 1943, in addition to the salaries as fixed by Ordinance No. 2962 of the City of Everett; providing the terms and conditions under which said bonus shall be paid and the time of payment , making appropriations from the water and emergency funds therefor and declaring the emergency making appropriations necessary, end declaring en emergency. ;', REAS, the existing salaries paid the various officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett are considerable less than the salaries paid employees performing similar work in private industry and business in the City of Everett and in the vicinity thereof; end WHEREAS, by reason thereof it is necessary that the salaries paid the officers and employees be increased in order to retain such persons es officers and employees of the City of Everett in order that the City of Everett may continue to efficiently perform its governmental end other duties; end laiEREAS, the continued increase in living costs due to the war emergency requires the salaries pa id to the officers end employees of the City of Everett be increased. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF ETERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: That during the period July 1, 1943 and December 31, 1943 the salaries of the various officers, assist- ants and deputies and employees of the City of Everett be in- creased as a bonus as herein provided over and above the salarie - as fixed in Ordinance No. 2962 of the City of Everett . Section 2: Said increase in salary end bonus shall be payable quarterly as other salaries are paid on the 5th day of October, 1943, and on the 5th day of January, 1944, provided the officer or employee shall work the entire quarter. Provided further that in the event that an officer or employee does not work the entire quarter through no fault of the employee or officer the City Council may authorize the payment to said officer or employee said bonus during the time that he was era- ployed by the City of Everett. Any new employee working only part of any quarter shall be paid such bonus at the rate herein provided during such time es such employee or officer worked for the City of Everett. Section 3 : Said increase in salaries of the officers and employees of Everett during said period shall be as follows: Section 4: CITY ATTORNEY L 'I:RTMENT: City Attorney 015.00 per mo.
