CE providing for an increase in the salaries <br /> of the various officers, assistarts, deputies and employees of <br /> the City of Everett as a bonus for the period beginning July 1, <br /> 1943, and ending Decenber 31, 1943, in addition to the salaries <br /> as fixed by Ordinance No. 2962 of the City of Everett; providing <br /> the terms and conditions under which said bonus shall be paid and <br /> the time of payment , making appropriations from the water and <br /> emergency funds therefor and declaring the emergency making <br /> appropriations necessary, end declaring en emergency. <br /> ;', REAS, the existing salaries paid the various <br /> officers, assistants, deputies and employees of the City of <br /> Everett are considerable less than the salaries paid employees <br /> performing similar work in private industry and business in <br /> the City of Everett and in the vicinity thereof; end <br /> WHEREAS, by reason thereof it is necessary that the <br /> salaries paid the officers and employees be increased in order <br /> to retain such persons es officers and employees of the City <br /> of Everett in order that the City of Everett may continue to <br /> efficiently perform its governmental end other duties; end <br /> laiEREAS, the continued increase in living costs due <br /> to the war emergency requires the salaries pa id to the officers <br /> end employees of the City of Everett be increased. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF ETERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That during the period July 1, 1943 and <br /> December 31, 1943 the salaries of the various officers, assist- <br /> ants and deputies and employees of the City of Everett be in- <br /> creased as a bonus as herein provided over and above the salarie - <br /> as fixed in Ordinance No. 2962 of the City of Everett . <br /> Section 2: Said increase in salary end bonus shall <br /> be payable quarterly as other salaries are paid on the 5th day <br /> of October, 1943, and on the 5th day of January, 1944, provided <br /> the officer or employee shall work the entire quarter. Provided <br /> further that in the event that an officer or employee does not <br /> work the entire quarter through no fault of the employee or <br /> officer the City Council may authorize the payment to said <br /> officer or employee said bonus during the time that he was era- <br /> ployed by the City of Everett. Any new employee working only <br /> part of any quarter shall be paid such bonus at the rate herein <br /> provided during such time es such employee or officer worked <br /> for the City of Everett. <br /> Section 3 : Said increase in salaries of the <br /> officers and employees of Everett during said period shall be <br /> as follows: <br /> Section 4: CITY ATTORNEY L 'I:RTMENT: <br /> City Attorney 015.00 per mo. <br /> Stenographer 15.00 per mo. <br />
