• • ORDINANCE No. oC 9 l0 ? .AN ORDINLI'TCE creating the office of one additional Captain Drill Tlaster in the Fire Department of the City of Everett,, in addition to the employees and officers in said department pro- vided for under Ordinance No. 2962 of the City of Everett , during the war emergency; fixing the salary; providing for the payment of his salary; providing for his appointment; prescribing his duties, and declaring an emergency . ?;I REA.S, during the uar emergency it is desirable and necessary that some member of the Fire Department of the City of Everett be designated to inspect the industries of the City of Everett, and to train 2#6=cf employees of said industries to pre- vent fires in such industries and to assist the Everett Fire Department in fighting fires in such industries ; and WIDERE.AS, the industries of the City of Everett have agreed to pay the salary and expenses of such employee of the Fire Department while engaged in said work. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EV.E'RE=T DOES ORDAIN: Section 1 : That there be and hereby is created in the Fire Department of the City of Everett the office of Captain Drill 14e seer in addition to the officers is o vi ded for under Ordinance No. 2962 of the City of Everett, during the duration of the war or until sooner terminated. Said Position shall be filled by appointment under Civil Service rules by the Commission r of Safety of the City of Everett. Section 2 ; It shall be the duty of such officer, under the direction of the Chief of the Fire Department of the City of Everett , to inspect the industries of the City of Everett and to make reconnandations for the prevention of fires in such industries and to train employees of such industries to prevent fires and to fight fires in such industries, and to perform such other duties in connection therewith es the Chief of the Fire Department shall direct. Section 3: Said officer shall receive as salary for such work the sum of 'No Hundred 'he�Doll`rr�s205.00) per month, payable as other officers of said City Ore uai , and shall receiv_ the sum of Seven Cents (7V) per mile for the use of his automobil in connection with said work. Section 4: It is expressly understood that the industries of the City of Everett shall contribute to the General Fund of the City of -Everett , for the use of the Fire Department op said City, an amount sii ffi ei r.rt to pay the salary and expenses of said officer , and said contribution for said salary and expenses shall be so paid in advance for at least one month prio to the performance of any of such duties by said officer. The said officer so appointed shall be a regular member of the Tire Department of the City of Everett and shall retain and receive all rights and privileges under the Civil Service rules
