, • 1 <br /> • <br /> ORDINANCE No. <br /> 2940. <br /> AN ONDI=CE prohibiting the practice of going in and <br /> upon private residences in the City of Everett by solicitors, <br /> peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants and transient vendors of <br /> merchandise and other persons not having been requested or <br /> invited so to do by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants <br /> of said private residences, for the purpose of soliciting orders <br /> for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise and/or for the <br /> purpose of disposing of and/or peddling or hawking the sane <br /> and/or for the purpose of delivering samples thereof or advertising 1 <br /> the same for sale , declaring the same to be a nuisance , pro- <br /> viding penalties for the violation thereof, and declaring an <br /> emergency. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Sect ion 1: That the practice of going in end upon <br /> private residences in the City of Everett by solicitors, <br /> peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants, transient vendors of <br /> merchandise or other persons not having been requested or <br /> invited so to do by the owner or owners, occupant or occupants <br /> of said private residences for the Turpose of soliciting orders <br /> for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise and/or for the <br /> purposes of disposing of aid/or peddling or hawking the same <br /> and/or for the Purpose of delivering samples thereof or <br /> advertising the same for sale , is hereby declared to be a <br /> nuisance and is hereby prohibited. <br /> Section 2: The Commissioner of Safety and Police <br /> Officers of the City of Everett are hereby required and directed <br /> to suppress the same and to abate any such nuisance as is <br /> described in the first section of this ordinance. <br /> Section 3 : Any person convicted of the violation <br /> of this ordinance still be fined in a sun of not more than <br /> Three Hundred Dollars ( 300.00) or imprison. in the City Jail <br /> for not longer tan Ninety (90) days or shall be punished by <br /> both such fine and imprisonment . <br /> section 4: An emergency is declared to exist and <br /> this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication. <br /> Ia Y r <br /> Attest: <br /> City Clerk <br /> Passed: Jan. 20, 1942. <br /> Published: Jan. 21, 1942. <br />
