4P . - , <br /> • ORDINA.I T CE No. <br /> 2876. <br /> All ORDINANCE providing for an emergency expenditure to <br /> cover expense of examination by State Auditors; providing for an <br /> emergency expenditure for census enumerators; providing for an <br /> emergency expenditure in connection with convention of Association <br /> of Washington Cit ies ; providing for an emergency expenditure to <br /> cover cost of insta lati on of fire end police signal system on <br /> East Hewitt Avenue , and decla ring en eme rgency . <br /> TI-41 CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDA.IT\T: <br /> Section 1: That a public emergency exists and the <br /> amount of expenditures therefor could not have been reasonably <br /> foreseen at the time of making the budget for the year 1940 , <br /> to-wit : In October 1939. That said emergency ha s been caused <br /> by reason of the fact that the cost of examination of the city' s <br /> affairs by State Auditors was 518.45 more than was estimated; <br /> that by reason of the fact that it was necessary and desirable <br /> to employ enumerators in connection with the 1940 census it was <br /> necessary to expend the sum of $385.00 ; that it was necessary to <br /> expend the sum of ,15 .00 in connection with the holding of the <br /> convention of the Association of Washington Cities in Everett <br /> during the year 1940 ; that by reason of the fact that East Hewitt <br /> Avenue was paved during the year 1940 it was necessary to take <br /> care of the cost of installation in said street of the fire and <br /> police signal system at a cost of $1,021.73 . <br /> Section 2: That there is hereby appropriated out of <br /> the General Current Expense fund of Everett, not therwise budgeted, <br /> for the purpose of paying the expenses above referred to , to-wit: <br /> $515.45 to cover additional cost of examination of city affairs <br /> by State Auditors; 385.00 for employment of enumerators in <br /> connection with the taking of census for the year 1940 ; 15 .00 <br /> for cost in connection with tip holding of the convention of <br /> the Assoc of -Jeshington Cities; $1,021 .73for cost of installa- <br /> of fire and police signal system on East Hewitt Avenue , which sums <br /> shall be pa id by the issuance of emergency warrants drawn on such <br /> General Expense Fund by the proper officers of the City of Everett <br /> as provided by law. <br /> Section 3: That the expenditures herein provided for, <br /> in the amounts set forth herein, b e , and the same are hereby <br /> ratified, approved and confirmed. <br /> Section 4: An emergency is declared to exist and <br /> this ordinance shall take effect upon j ge and publication. <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest: o <br /> City Clerk <br /> Passed: September 24, 191,0. <br /> Published: September 26 , 194.0. <br /> J r <br />
