• <br /> • <br /> ORDINANCE NO. l9p2 <br /> 1 An Ordinance submitting to the legal voters of the City of <br /> 2 Everett a proposed amendment to the charter of the said City, pro- <br /> 3 viding for preference in appointments of employment to honorably <br /> 4 discharged soldiers, sailors and marines rho have served in time of <br /> 5 war, the widows of such and the wives of injured soldiers, sailors, <br /> 6 and marines, who themselves are not qualified but whose wives are <br /> 7 qualified to hold such positions. <br /> 8 <br /> THE CITY OF EV RJ TT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 9 <br /> Section 1 : That hereafter in making appointments to clerical <br /> 10 <br /> and other positions in the various departments of the Civil Service <br /> 11 <br /> of the City of Everett , preference shall be given to honorably dis- <br /> 12 <br /> charged soldiers, sailors and marines, who have served in time of <br /> 13 <br /> war, the widows of such and to the wives of injured soldiers, sail- <br /> 14 <br /> ors and marines who themselves are not qualified but whose wives are <br /> 15 <br /> qualified to hold such positions, provided that the provisions of <br /> 16 <br /> this title shall not operate to deprive any person at present em- <br /> 17 <br /> played by said City of Everett of their position. Said proposed <br /> 18 <br /> amendment to be submitted to the legal voters of the City of Everett <br /> 19 <br /> at a special municipal election to be held in said City on May 25, <br /> 20 <br /> 1920. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Section 2: That the form of ballot to be used at said election <br /> 23 shall be as follows: An ordinance submitting to the legal voters of <br /> 24 the City of Everett a proposed amendment to the charter of said City <br /> 25 providing for preference in appointments of employment to honorably <br /> 26 discharged soldiers, sailors and marines who have served in time of <br /> 27 war, their widows and the wives of injured soldiers, sailors and <br /> 28 marines who themselves are not qualified but whose wives are quali- <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> -1- <br /> 31 <br />
