ORDINANCE NO. 3023-07 <br /> An Ordinance establishing the City of Everett Diversity Advisory Board to identify and <br /> prioritize issues regarding diversity and inclusion and offer recommendations to the <br /> Mayor and City Council of the City of Everett <br /> Whereas, the City of Everett benefits when all members of the communities are valued <br /> and respected; and <br /> Whereas, the City of Everett will benefit from the inclusion of all citizens which will <br /> ensure that the diversity of the city is represented in policy and decision making; and <br /> Whereas, the City of Everett will benefit from an inclusive recruitment processes to <br /> ensure city government represents the community; and <br /> Whereas, the City of Everett will benefit when women and minority-owned businesses <br /> have equal access to city procurement opportunities; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: Diversity Advisory Board Established. <br /> There is hereby created a Diversity Advisory Board, whose purpose shall be to advise the <br /> Mayor and City Council on matters relating to diversity and inclusion. <br /> Section 2: Membership, Appointment and Terms. <br /> The Diversity Advisory Board shall consist of 15 members who reflect the diverse <br /> community that is Everett which includes such diversities as race, ethnicity, gender, <br /> sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, <br /> political beliefs and other ideologies. <br /> The Mayor shall appoint the 15 members with approval by City Council. The members <br /> of the Board shall serve four-year terms beginning Oct. 1, 2007, except that the first 15 <br /> members shall be appointed for different terms as follows: (a) seven members appointed <br /> for a period of four years; and(b) eight members appointed for a period of two years. <br />
