ORDINANCE NO. 3023-07 An Ordinance establishing the City of Everett Diversity Advisory Board to identify and prioritize issues regarding diversity and inclusion and offer recommendations to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Everett Whereas, the City of Everett benefits when all members of the communities are valued and respected; and Whereas, the City of Everett will benefit from the inclusion of all citizens which will ensure that the diversity of the city is represented in policy and decision making; and Whereas, the City of Everett will benefit from an inclusive recruitment processes to ensure city government represents the community; and Whereas, the City of Everett will benefit when women and minority-owned businesses have equal access to city procurement opportunities; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: Diversity Advisory Board Established. There is hereby created a Diversity Advisory Board, whose purpose shall be to advise the Mayor and City Council on matters relating to diversity and inclusion. Section 2: Membership, Appointment and Terms. The Diversity Advisory Board shall consist of 15 members who reflect the diverse community that is Everett which includes such diversities as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs and other ideologies. The Mayor shall appoint the 15 members with approval by City Council. The members of the Board shall serve four-year terms beginning Oct. 1, 2007, except that the first 15 members shall be appointed for different terms as follows: (a) seven members appointed for a period of four years; and(b) eight members appointed for a period of two years.
