<br />RESOLUTION NO. 8248 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION placing the residence at 1702 Rucker Avenue on the Everett Register of Historic <br />Places. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />1. EMC 2.96.040.C states the Everett historical commission shall review nominations to the <br />Everett register of historic places according to adopted review criteria and standards; and <br /> <br />2. EMC 19.28.130.B.4 states the Everett historical commission shall consider the merits of <br />the nomination at a public hearing. If the commission finds that the nominated property <br />is eligible for the Everett register of historic places, the commission shall make <br />recommendations to city council that the property be listed in the register; and <br /> <br />3. EMC 19.28.130.A identifies criteria by which a building would be considered eligible for <br />the Everett Register of Historic Places; and <br /> <br />4. The owners of the single-family residence at 1702 Rucker Avenue have requested that <br />their home be placed on the Everett Register of Historic Places; and <br /> <br />5. The Everett Historical Commission reviewed the request, held a public hearing on October <br />28, 2025, and determined that the structure, built in 1906, is at least 50 years old and <br />eligible to be added to the Everett Register of Historic Places; and <br /> <br />6. The structure at 1702 Rucker Avenue was built in 1906, and it’s first known resident was <br />Almon D. Lucas, a partner in the real estate firm Pearse & Lucas; and <br /> <br />7. The structure at 1702 Rucker Avenue is a large Craftsman-influenced American <br />Foursquare with distinctive architectural characteristics. The residence represents <br />Everett’s early twentieth-century residential expansion; and <br /> <br />8. The building meets the designation criteria for inclusion on the Everett Register of Historic <br />Places. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND EVERETT CITY COUNCIL THAT: <br /> <br />The residence located at 1702 Rucker Avenue, shall be added to the Everett Register of <br />Historic Places. <br /> <br /> <br />
