• <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> ORDI NANO A NO, /'j.5 <br /> An ordinance authorizing and directing the city council <br /> of the city of Averett to provide for the care and management of and <br /> the opening and closing of the Averett Avenue bridge, by contract. <br /> THA CITY OF .GVARr TT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That from and after the taking effect of this <br /> ordinance the city council of the city of Averett is hereby authoriz- <br /> ed and directed to provide by contract for the care and management of <br /> and opening and closing of the Averett Avenue bridge in the city of <br /> .verett, and doing such other work as may be necessary in connection <br /> with the management and control of said bridge. <br /> Section 2: That said council is hereby authorized and <br /> directed to advertise for bids for said contract, and to let said <br /> contract ' to the lowest bidder, provided that said council may <br /> reject any or all bids, and re-advertise for bids. <br /> Section 3: That the mayor and city clerk be and they are <br /> hereby authorized to enter into a contract for said work, under such <br /> terms and conditions as the council shall approve, with the person <br /> submitting any bid which has been accepted by the city council, upon <br /> such successful bidder filing with the city clerk of the city of <br /> .verett a bond in such sum as the city council shall determine and <br /> conditioned that said bidder will perform the conditions of said <br /> contract and save the City harmless from any damages that may be <br /> suffered by any person by reason of the failure of such bidder to <br /> perform the terms and conditions of said contract. <br /> Said bond shall be approved by the city council. <br /> May <br /> Passed 0-CT 13 1914 <br /> Attestcfai . <br /> City'Clerx. <br /> Published <br /> T 15 1914 <br />
