No. \V Ok <br /> An ordinance amending Section 1 of Ordinance No. 945 of - <br /> the b ity of Averett, entitled "An ordinance to license and regulate the <br /> business of conveying persons, goods and things from place to place for <br /> hire within the limits of the city of Averett by the use of vehicles, <br /> providing a penalty for the violation thereof, and repealing Ordinance <br /> No. 467 of the city of Averett entitled 'An ordinance to license and <br /> regulate the business of conveying persons , goods and things from place <br /> to place for hire by the use of vehicles drawn by animals, and providing <br /> a penalty for the violation of the provisions thereof' "i and declaring <br /> an emergency. <br /> THA CITY OF AV RJ TT DOHS ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 1 of Ordinance No. 945 of the city <br /> C.,` of Averett entitled "An ordinance to license and regulate the business <br /> of conveying persons, goods and things from place to place for hire <br /> ‘t`_ within the limits of the city of Averett by the use of vehicles, provid- <br /> kt! ing a penalty for the violation thereof, and repealing Ordinance No. 467 <br /> iof the city of Averett entitled 'An ordinance to license and regulate the <br /> \ business of conveying persons , goods and things from place to place for <br /> hire by the use of vehicles drawn by animals, and providing a penalty for <br /> the violation of the provisions thereof' " , be, and the same is hereby <br /> amended to read as follows: <br /> "Section 1: No person, company or corporation shall engage <br /> in the business of conveying passengers from one part of the city to <br /> another part thereof for hire or reward by the use of any hack, cab,wagon, <br /> omnibus, gurney, automobile, motor vehicle or other vehicle; and no per- <br /> son, company or corporation shall engage in the business of conveying <br /> goods or things from one part of the city to another part thereof for hire <br /> or reward by the use of any dray, job or express wagon, automobile, motor <br /> vehicle or other vehicle without first having obtained a license therefor <br /> in the manner hereinafter provided. The applicant for any such license <br /> shall pay the amount of the fee therefor to the city treasurer, who <br />
