ORDINANCE NO . .4,* <br /> ArrOrdinance providing for the number of Police Officers <br /> in the City of Everett, defining their duties, and repealing all <br /> Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict therewith. <br /> The City of Everett does Ordain: <br /> Sec. 1. That the number of regularly employed Policeman in the <br /> City of Everett shall be seventeen, , all of whom shall perform such <br /> duties as the Commissioner of Public Safety of the City of Everett <br /> shall direct; provided, however, that in addition to the foregoing <br /> here may be appointed by the Commission of Public Safety such a <br /> number of special Police without pay, or emergency patrolmen, as <br /> may be deemed necessary from time to time ; and provided further that <br /> the CoMmissioner of Public Safety may when the Public Safety re- <br /> quires it in cases of emergency,to be by him determined, appoint <br /> any number of emergency policemen who shall discharge their duties <br /> and hold their positions at the pleasure of the appointing power <br /> until the conclusion of the meeting of the City Council held next <br /> after such appointment and not longer except by the consent of the <br /> City Council. <br /> Sec. 2. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict with <br /> the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. <br /> Section 3 , Whereas it is necessary that the number ofPolice <br /> Officers and their duties be fixed, and determined, at <br /> once for the proper conducts of the affairs of the police Depart- <br /> ment, an emergency is declared ta_ exlst_and_this_DrAlnance _shalj. <br /> take effect upon its passage and publication. <br /> Passed 1912. <br /> z2 /7 <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest <br /> ty- rk <br /> Published <br />
