ellots —I-A1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 5844 <br /> A RESOLUTION of the City of Everett <br /> to honor the life of Bernie Webber <br /> WHEREAS, through his artwork, Bernie Webber distinctively captured <br /> the unique beauty of the Everett area and the Pacific Northwest; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett native was a natural storyteller, using his paintbrush and <br /> canvas to portray all that is and has been Everett, including its rich history of industry, <br /> commerce and agriculture, public education, government, civic life and the U.S. Navy; and <br /> WHEREAS, along with his talented eye to depict natural beauty, he shared his great <br /> wit and engaging personality in an unmatched spirit for community; and <br /> WHEREAS, throughout his life, Bernie's achievements were well-noted, such as his <br /> honor as the 1981 Citizen of the Year, 2004 Snohomish County Artist of the Year, 1994 VOA <br /> Humanitarian of the Year, Centennial Citizen, Friend of the Navy, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, <br /> Lions International Medal of Merit Award recipient and Chamber of Commerce Lifetime <br /> Achiever; and <br /> WHEREAS, on many occasions, Bernie's generosity to the community was evident <br /> with a very common 'signed Bernie Webber'auction item at community fundraisers or an <br /> in-person, pier-side welcome of young sailors home from a mission; and <br /> WHEREAS, we are blessed Bernie Webber left so much of himself for us in his iconic <br /> murals of Everett life, Snohomish County, Naval Station Everett, Everett schools and Port <br /> Gardner Bay, which are now prominently preserved throughout the community for public <br /> appreciation; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND EVERETT CITY <br /> COUNCIL THAT: <br /> December 22, 2006, be Bernie Webber Day in the City of Everett and that <br /> community members be inspired to reflect on his life and contributions to the City <br /> of Everett. <br /> Passed and approved this •to day of Dec- •er 2006. <br /> ve , I <br /> Ra a:: :nso , itr� j/ Br?'da .toner( cil Pr: •- t <br /> Mark !son, Council Vice-President "o. , ips: •unci) M-mber <br /> /WA/ 1' 0 Of • / 7/. <br /> Drew Nielsen, f ouncil Member Bo.
