RESOLUTION NO. 9796 #°14•41‘N/e/ A— <br /> A RESOLUTION adopting the Everett <br /> Hazard Mitigation Plan. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has experienced damage from natural and <br /> human caused hazards such as flooding, drought, severe weather, earthquakes and <br /> hazardous materials incidents; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all jurisdictions <br /> to adopt a local hazard mitigation plan in order to receive disaster mitigation funding <br /> from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and <br /> WHEREAS, the mitigation planning process, after 2 years of research, providing <br /> the public an opportunity to review and comment at public meetings, completed the <br /> hazard mitigation plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan identified, justified and prioritized <br /> a number of proposed projects and programs aimed at reducing vulnerabilities and the <br /> impact of future disasters in the city of Everett; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Washington Emergency Management Division and the Federal <br /> Emergency Management Agency, Region X officials have reviewed and approved the <br /> Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan, contingent upon the official adoption of this Resolution; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan represents the City's commitment <br /> to diminish the risks from natural hazards and will serve as a reference in committing <br /> future resources for hazard impact reduction; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Everett hereby adopts the <br /> Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan. <br /> Passed and approved this 2nd day of August;-2006. <br /> 61J410 /3 <br /> Council member • ••ucing Resolution <br /> Co I Preside 110 <br />
