/?6/%ca- <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 5416 <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing alcohol at the Main <br /> Everett Public Library for limited private events <br /> WHEREAS,the City's main Library acts as host to many community functions; and <br /> WHEREAS, with the new main Library Coffee Shop coming on line, this will further enhance the main <br /> Library's capacity for providing public meeting space; and <br /> WHEREAS the Library Coffee Shop vendor will be authorized, pursuant to Library Policy, to make the <br /> Coffee Shop available to closed groups (not the general public, but pursuant to invitations either to <br /> specifically named persons or to members of specific organizations) and under certain circumstances, as <br /> provided in the Library Policy, portions of the main Library may be available for such closed group <br /> functions as well; and <br /> WHEREAS, for such closed group functions, if the Library Coffee Shop vendor is other wise qualified <br /> and the appropriate permits are obtained including the permit from the Washington State Liquor Control <br /> Board, it may be appropriate and desirable for the vendor to serve wine; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that alcohol is currently permitted on a limited basis in other <br /> City facilities such as the Everett Station and Park facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS,EMC 10.42.070 authorizes an open package containing liquor,the possession and display of <br /> an open container of liquor and its consumption in certain Park facilities and such other facilities as <br /> Council specifies by resolution; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> EVERETT that wine is permitted at the main Everett Library for closed group functions during <br /> such hours the Library is otherwise closed provided it is done in conjunction with the main <br /> Library's Coffee Shop vendor and complies with the Library's Policy, City regulations and State <br /> law. <br /> ✓J% i <br /> Counci person ntroducing R•.rution <br /> PASSED AND APPROVED this 24th day of December ,2003. <br /> Council President <br />
