• ORDINANCE NO. 2071-95 AN ORDINANCE adopting the 1994 Edition of the Uniform Housing Code and repealing Ordinance No. 1883-92 WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this ordinance serves to protect the public health and safety; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the absence of the regulations adopted by this ordinance would create a public harm and a public nuisance; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City is mandated by the State to implement and enforce the herein adopted code: NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section l: The Uniform Housing Code, published by the International Conference of Building Officials, being particularly the 1994 Edition thereof and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended are hereby adopted by reference and incorporated herein as fully as if set out at length herein. Section 2: Amendments Made in the Uniform Housing Code. A. Chapter 1, Section 102 of the Uniform Housing Code, 1994 Edition, which reads as follows: The purpose of this code is to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all residential buildings and structures within this jurisdiction. The purpose of this code is not to create or otherwise establish or designate any particular class or group of persons who will or should be especially protected or benefited by the terms of this code. be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: It is expressly the purpose of this Code to provide for and promote the health, safety and welfare of the general public, and not to create or otherwise establish or designate any particular class or group of persons who will or should be especially protected or benefited by the terms of this Code. 1
