• <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2071-95 <br /> AN ORDINANCE adopting the 1994 Edition of the Uniform <br /> Housing Code and repealing Ordinance No. 1883-92 <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that this ordinance serves to protect the <br /> public health and safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the absence of the regulations adopted <br /> by this ordinance would create a public harm and a public nuisance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the City is mandated by the State to <br /> implement and enforce the herein adopted code: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section l: The Uniform Housing Code, published by the International Conference <br /> of Building Officials, being particularly the 1994 Edition thereof and the whole thereof, <br /> save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended are <br /> hereby adopted by reference and incorporated herein as fully as if set out at length <br /> herein. <br /> Section 2: Amendments Made in the Uniform Housing Code. <br /> A. Chapter 1, Section 102 of the Uniform Housing Code, 1994 Edition, which <br /> reads as follows: <br /> The purpose of this code is to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or <br /> limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the use <br /> and occupancy, location and maintenance of all residential buildings and <br /> structures within this jurisdiction. <br /> The purpose of this code is not to create or otherwise establish or designate any <br /> particular class or group of persons who will or should be especially protected <br /> or benefited by the terms of this code. <br /> be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> It is expressly the purpose of this Code to provide for and promote the health, <br /> safety and welfare of the general public, and not to create or otherwise establish <br /> or designate any particular class or group of persons who will or should be <br /> especially protected or benefited by the terms of this Code. <br /> 1 <br />
