I: EvERETT Resolution # 4506 A Resolution allocating funds from Hotel/Motel Tax proceeds for 1998. WHEREAS, the City of Everett supports nonprofit organizations that undertake projects and events to encourage tourism expansion and promote the City of Everett; and WHEREAS, the Everett City Council's Budget and Finance Committee reviewed the estimated revenues available for distribution during 1998 and proposed an allocation of funds for fulfillment of existing contracts with the Snohomish County Visitor's Information Center in the amount of$15,000, and the continuing obligation for stadium improvements funded by Snohomish County in the amount of$52,312; and WHEREAS, the Everett City Council's Budget and Finance Committee reviewed applications for community promotions and civic events from the Chamber of Commerce and Salty Sea Days; and WHEREAS, the Everett City Council's Budget and Finance Committee is required by state statute to develop a proposal for the distribution of hotel/motel tax revenue, which must be taken under consideration by the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee reviewed the proposal and prepared a response recommending changes to the original proposal; and WHEREAS, more than 45 days will elapse from the original submission of the City Council's Budget and Finance Committee's proposal to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and the final adoption of the 1998 Budget; and WHEREAS, the Everett City Council's Budget and Finance Committee reconvened and drafted a final proposal, incorporating the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee's suggestions; and WHEREAS, the Everett City Council Budget and Finance Committee now submits the final proposal to the full City Council for its consideration; sjh\hm_tax\98res1
