RESOLUTION NO. 4 4 4 0
<br /> A RESOLUTION of the City of Everett, Washington,
<br /> recognizing the many contributions of Mayor William E. "Bill" Moore . .
<br /> who served the City well and proudly
<br /> from December 21, 1977 until January 2, 1990.
<br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett, Washington, has been deeply saddened with the news that former
<br /> Mayor William E. "Bill" Moore passed away on Thursday, May 29, 1997; and,
<br /> WHEREAS, Everett citizens have lost a good friend, family man, and community leader; and,
<br /> WHEREAS, as Mayor, Bill Moore served the City faithfully for 12 years. Mayor Moore was
<br /> elected on November 8, 1977. He took office December 21, 1977, for a four-year-term. He ran unopposed
<br /> for his second four-year term from 1982-1985. Mayor Moore's third term ended on January 2, 1990. No
<br /> mayor has served the City longer; and,
<br /> WHEREAS, prior to becoming Mayor, Bill Moore was elected to the first City Council, when the current
<br /> mayor-council form of government was established in 1969. He served as the first Council President; and,
<br /> WHEREAS, Bill Moore was devoted to the community and its citizens. He saw to it that the City's
<br /> infrastructure was maintained, he encouraged economic growth, he envisioned a future that included the U.S.
<br /> Navy, and he missed no effort to see that future realized.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF
<br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT that:
<br /> The City of Everett recognizes and honors the many accomplishments Mayor Bill Moore, a
<br /> determined man who loved his City of Everett, and made 'infinitely better because of his faithful
<br /> stewardship.
