July 1, 2015
The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30
p.m., July 1, 2015 in the City Council Chambers of the William E. Moore
Historic City Hall, President Bader presiding. Upon roll call it was found
that Mayor Stephanson and Council Members Roberts, Moore, Murphy,
Gipson, Bader, and Tuohy were present. Council Member Stonecipher
was excused.
Council Member Roberts led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the June 24, 2015, City Council meeting were approved as
printed. Council Members Roberts, Murphy, and Tuohy abstained from
the vote.
MAYOR
Chief Templeman advised that it is illegal to possess or discharge
fireworks in the city of Everett. He cautioned that there will be extra
officers on the street beginning tonight dedicated to fireworks
enforcement, and that the fine for someone in possession of or
discharging fireworks starts at $257.00. He expressed that dry conditions
in the area for the past several months are of great concern to those in
public safety.
Mayor Stephanson remarked that Everett and Snohomish County fared
very well relative to the new Washington State transportation budget and
the capital budget for Washington State University, but until the issue of
classroom size is resolved, the bonding of capital projects may be in
jeopardy.
COUNCIL
Council Member Murphy reported on his attendance at the Streets
Initiative Team Core Group meeting earlier today where they talked about
the creation of a coordinator position for the Streets Initiative Group, which
would be funded by the United Way.
`V021
