- .V47 ?ETT <br /> RESOLUTION NO.'(//cZil <br /> A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF WATER METERING <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has a loan from the Public Works Trust Fund to replace <br /> Transmission Lines #2 and #3, and the State Department of Community Trade, and Economic <br /> Development has required as one condition of the loan that the City eliminate unmetered services <br /> by January 1, 2003 and continued access to the funding source could save the City several <br /> million dollars over the next 10 years; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City cannot obtain new water rights under State Department of Ecology <br /> regulations without being fully metered; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State Department of Health has required that the City's water supply plan <br /> address fully metering our services over the next several years; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is fair that customers pay for the amount of water they use, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City's share of future capital improvements would be reduced by the amount of <br /> conservation due to metering (estimated at 10%); and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has a five year plan to install water meters on the remaining flat rate single <br /> family residences; and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> EVERETT that the Public Works Department is authorized to implement the five year plan to <br /> meter all customers. <br /> FURTHER, the Public Works Department will return to City Council with a recommendation on <br /> meter reading technology by October 1, 1999. <br /> 14 .✓ , �4.// ./ <br /> Councilperson Introducing Resolution <br /> Passed and approved this') ' day of December, 1995. <br /> /t)C <br /> .164-')7/,-z--)— <br /> cil Pre ident <br /> mdcouncila <br />
