RESOLUTION /0,,,5 <br /> IN SUPPORT OF COOPERATIVE RAIL PLANNING WITH METRO <br /> WHEREAS, with its September 15, 1988 action to accelerate rail <br /> planning , METRO took the next step in moving the region forward in <br /> its examination of rail as part of an integrated transportation <br /> system ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor of Everett met with his counterparts from <br /> METRO, Community Transit , and SNO-TRAN on Tuesday, November 29, 1988 <br /> to discuss the status of METRO' s rail planning proposal and how best <br /> to integrate the interests of SNO-TRAN, Community Transit , and <br /> Everett Transit ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the participants at the November 29 meeting , by <br /> consensus agreed to recommend the following planning and policy <br /> coordination approach to their respective boards and councils ; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the Everett City Council agrees to the <br /> following : <br /> The PSCOG ' s Standing Committee on Transportation (SCOT) shall <br /> be the principal forum for integrating the interests of <br /> Snohomish County' s public transportation agencies in a phasing <br /> plan for high capacity transit investment in the central Puget <br /> Sound Region. <br /> METRO will develop as part of its Long Range Plan and propose <br /> for inclusion in the Regional Transportation Plan , a priority <br /> corridor for detailed evaluation of near term high capacity <br /> investments. <br /> During the process of identifying the priority corridor, the <br /> METRO Council will schedule joint meetings of the METRO <br /> Transit Committee and SCOT at no less than three milestones : <br /> 1 . Identifying criteria for selecting a priority corridor . <br /> 2 . Identification of alternative corridor segments for <br /> consideration. <br /> 3 .
