RESOLUTION NO. 02`7J <br /> A RESOLUTION of the City of Everett authorizing approval of The <br /> Snohomish County Section 504 Program for the Disabled. <br /> WHEREAS, SNO-TRAN, Community Transit and Everett Transit entered <br /> into a compact to prepare a combined Snohomish County Section 504 <br /> Program for the Disabled; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Compact members have prepared a draft Section 504 <br /> Program for the Disabled in compliance with the Urban Mass <br /> Transportation Administration requirement that all recipients of UMTA <br /> financial assistance establish programs to provide transit services to <br /> handicapped persons; and <br /> WHEREAS, this federal rule from UMTA carries out Section 317 (d) <br /> of the Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1982 and Section 504 <br /> of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the draft Section 504 Program for the Disabled was <br /> distributed to a list of organizations and individuals concerned with <br /> transportation for the disabled; and <br /> WHEREAS, five public meetings were held in September, 1987, and a <br /> public hearing was held on October 6, 1987, to hear comments on the <br /> draft Snohomish County Section 504 Program for the Disabled; and <br /> WHEREAS, staff now feels significant public concerns have been <br /> addressed; and <br /> WHEREAS, the few public concerns expressed were reviewed by the <br /> Compact members staff and, where appropriate, incorporated into the <br /> original document; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Compact members must submit their Section 504 <br /> Program for the Disabled to UMTA by December 15, 1987 , to ensure <br /> continuation of financial assistance; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett finds it in the best interest of the <br /> City of Everett to approve the Snohomish County Section 504 Program <br /> for the Disabled. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Everett that: <br /> Section 1. The Snohomish County Section 504 Program for the <br /> Disabled, dated November, 1987, is hereby approved for submittal to <br /> the Urban Mass Transportation Administration of the U.S.D.O.T. and <br /> adopted as the City of Everett's policy to guide it in providing <br /> transportation service for the disabled in compliance with Section <br /> 317 (d) of the Surface Transportation Assistance Act of 1982 and <br /> Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 . <br /> ADOPTED Ay the Ever ity Council at a regular meeting thereof <br /> held on the V416 day , 1987 . <br /> ()2111157 <br /> ounc 1 PAL In oducing <br /> zz ': es <br /> 7 <br /> iden <br /> P;21'1 <br /> ATTEST: <br /> City Clerk <br />
