RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION, approving a grant from the Culture-Convention Center (Hotel-Motel Tax) Fund No . 138 for the promotion of the Everett Open, a PGA golf tournament to be held in Everett , Washington. WHEREAS, The City of Everett recognizes the need to attract visitors and promote tourism within the City; and WHEREAS, the City of Everett desires to recognize the efforts made by the organizing committee of the PGA tournament as contributing to the promotion of Everett and for creating a positive community image; and WHEREAS, the City of Everett recognizes the PGA tournament as an outstanding means of furthering the goals of promoting tourism, creating name recognition, and enhancing our image as a city of quality; and WHEREAS, the City of Everett has enacted a two percent room tax in conformance with R.C.W. 67. 28 known as the Hotel-Motel Tax and annually collects revenue from this source; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the Hotel-Motel Tax is to provide funding for the cost of operating stadium facilities as well as for advertizing, publicizing, or otherwise distributing information for the purpose of attracting visitors and encouraging tourist expansion, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVERETT THAT: 1 . A grant of $20, 000 is hereby appropriated from the Culture-Convention Center (Hotel-Motel Tax ) Fund No. 138 for the purpose of operating, promoting, and otherwise conducting a PGA golf tournament in Everett, Washington. 2. The grant is to be paid to the organizing committee of the tournament, a legal entity operating under the name of Everett Golf Charities . 3. At the conclusion of the tournament, the organizing committee shall report back to the Council of the City of Everett, giving their assessment of the success of the event along with facts, figures, and other relevant statistics. n Counci man Introducing Re ution Passed and approved this �� day of , 1985 II4 N46 ident
