4 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. / 1 70 <br /> A RESOLUTION accepting the Northeast Everett <br /> neighborhood's recommendations for expenditure <br /> of $100,000 of Community Development Block Grant <br /> funds; specifying the improvements to be <br /> made; and authorizing the preparation of a Plans <br /> and Systems Ordinance for construction and project <br /> implementation in June, 1981. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has recognized the need to improve public facilities <br /> in the Northeast Everett Neighborhood; and <br /> WHEREAS, on July 23, 1980, the City Council authorized $50,000 of 1980 Block <br /> Grant funds to be used for engineering and design of the 1981 improvement projects <br /> to be constructed in Lowell, Port Gardner, Northeast, Riverside, and <br /> WHEREAS, numerous neighborhood meetings have been held to discuss project <br /> .roposals; and <br /> WHEREAS, on October 21, 1980, residents of the Northeast Everett neighborhood <br /> held a neighborhood-wide meeting at which residents voted on proposed projects; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Everett <br /> hat: <br /> 1. The following projects be implemented or constructed with the $100,000 <br /> available through the 1981 Community Development Block Grant Program <br /> as recommended by Northeast Everett residents. (The project which received <br /> the greatest number of votes is listed as A, the project which received <br /> the next greatest number of votes is listed as B, etc.) <br /> A. Construct sidewalk on the west side of Walnut from 9th Street to Butler <br /> (estimated project cost: $4,100). <br /> B. Construct curb, gutter, and sidewalk on both sides of the 1200 block <br /> of Maple (estimated project cost: $51,000). <br /> C. Continue youth recreation program (project cost: $12,000). <br /> D. $1,000 to the Council for a Greater Everett for neighborhood fair <br /> share assistance for support services to Northeast Everett Neighborhood <br /> Organization. <br /> E. Construct a sidewalk on the south side of Highway 99 from 7th Street <br /> to Walnut (estimated project cost: $7,600). <br /> F. Overlay roadbed on 5th Street from Pilchuck Path to Walnut Street <br /> (estimated project cost: $6,325). <br /> G. Construct curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the northwest corner of 19th <br /> Street and Pine Street intersection (estimated project cost: $1,900). <br /> 2. The Mayor be instructed to have a Plans and Systems Ordinance prepared <br /> and presented to the City Council which will officially authorize and fund <br /> the development of contract plans, specifications and detailed cost estimates <br /> and the future construction of the above improvements. <br />
