,000IP <br /> ORDINANCE No. 3008-07 <br /> An Ordinance relating to for-hire vehicles, <br /> amending Section 8 of Ordinance No. 2297-98, as amended <br /> by Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2785-04 (EMC 5.68.070) <br /> and repealing Section 2 of Ordinance No. 2773-04 (EMC <br /> 5.68.075). <br /> Whereas, the Everett City Council has enacted for-hire vehicle regulations to <br /> provide that such businesses are adequately regulated to protect the public health, safety <br /> and welfare and to promote safe, reliable and economically viable and stable taxicab <br /> transportation service; and <br /> Whereas, in 2004 the Everett City Council enacted an ordinance which created a <br /> cap on the maximum number of for-hire vehicle licenses; and <br /> Whereas, the Everett City Council finds that at this time it is appropriate to <br /> eliminate the cap on the maximum number of for-hire vehicle licenses; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: Section 8 of Ordinance No. 2297-98, as amended by Section 1 of Ordinance <br /> No. 2785-04 (EMC 5.68.070), which reads as follows: <br /> License term—Expiration of licenses and license fees—PJiaxiinuni number of <br /> taxicab licenses. <br /> A. All licenses issued under this chapter shall expire on July 31st of each year. Such <br /> licenses may be renewed by the license holder for the succeeding year by making <br /> application therefor with the city clerk at least ten days prior to the expiration date. <br /> B. The total number of taxicab licenses issued shall not exceed seventy-five. <br /> C. The city clerk shall formulate and forward to the council for its approval a <br /> methodology for apportioning taxicab licenses when the total number of taxicab license <br /> applications exceeds the maximum number allowed under this section. <br /> Is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 1 <br />
