Authorizing <br /> Additional Signing of Businesses <br /> in the B-1 Zone.) <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Everett held a public <br /> hearing on February 8, 1983, and made recommendations to the City Council <br /> proposing certain changes to the signing requirement in the B-1 zone; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council did approve said recommendations, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN THAT: <br /> Section 1: Section 10 of Ordinance No. 3572 as amended by Ordinance No. <br /> 4077 NOW READS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 10 B-1 Neighborhood Shopping Zone <br /> A. DECLARATION OF PURPOSE: <br /> The purpose and function of the B-1 Zone is to provide for and protect <br /> certain areas in the City for retail businesses and services serving <br /> primarily the residents of the surrounding neighborhood. <br /> B. PERMITTED USES: <br /> 1. R-2 Permitted Uses under R-2 standards. <br /> 2. R-3 Permitted Uses under R-3 standards. <br /> 3. Grocery, delicatessen, meat market, drug store, hardware store, <br /> gift shop, florist shop, confectionery, retail bakery outlet, shoe <br /> repair shop, barber shop, beauty shop, variety or notions store, <br /> millinery shop, studio apparel, repair services, clothes cleaning <br /> collection and distribution stations (agencies), business and <br /> professional offices, clinics, self-service launderies, cleaning and <br /> pressing establishments (sponging, spotting and pressing only). <br /> 4. Restaurants and grills not including entertainment or dancing and <br /> exclusive of taverns and bars. <br /> 5. Automobile service stations, exclusive of painting, body or <br /> mechanical repairs, and tire recapping. Tuneups and minimum <br /> maintenance work may be performed by the operator. No storage <br /> or rental of trailers, campers or used cars shall be permitted on <br /> the property. Pump islands shall be a minimum distance of 12 <br /> feet from property line. No service station or pump islands shall <br /> be constructed, moved or relocated on a site unless the lot shall <br /> contain a minimum area of 12,000 square feet and a minimum <br /> frontage of any abutting street of 100 lineal feet. Corner lots <br /> shall have a minimum of 100 lineal feet of frontage on both <br /> abutting streets. <br /> 6. One lighted or unlighted sign, not to exceed 30 square feet in <br /> area, placed on the property for which the identifying or <br /> advertising message is intended. Lighted signs shall not be of a <br /> flash or animated character. <br /> 7. Special Property Uses (See Section 5). <br /> C. MINIMUM LOT SIZE AND WIDTH: <br /> No required lot size or width for non-residential permitted uses. No lot <br /> for any residential use shall be less than 5,000 square feet in area nor <br /> less than 50 feet in width. There shall be provided no less than 1,500 <br /> square feet in area for each residential dwelling unit. <br />
