ORDINANCE NO. / ”_._ 7 1- <br /> AN <br /> AN ORDINANCE directing the improvement of <br /> Broadway by the reconstruction of sidewalks and <br /> appropriating funds therefor . <br /> WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of <br /> Everett finds that an extraordinarily unsafe condition <br /> for pedestrian traffic exists on the West side of <br /> Broadway between Hewitt and California due to deteriora- <br /> tion and falling away of the sidewalks which are supported <br /> on rotting structural members creating holes of 15 ft. or <br /> more in depth, and <br /> WHEREAS , the Council finds that the public <br /> safety requires the construction of sidewalks at said <br /> location for the protection of pedestrian traffic, and <br /> WHEREAS , Erickson Bros. Furniture Co. , Inc . <br /> has agreed to contribute one-third to a maximum of <br /> $6 ,000. 00 for the reconstruction of said sidewalks, <br /> NOW THEREFORE , THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: The City Engineer is directed <br /> to prepare plans and specifications, preparatory to <br /> calling for bids for improvement of the West side of <br /> Broadway by reconstruction from Hewitt Avenue to <br /> approximately 200 feet northerly. <br /> Section 2: Due to the emergency situation <br /> which the Council finds exists , the 1972 budget is <br /> hereby revised by the appropriation of a maximum of <br /> $12 ,000 .00 for said construction project.
