• s <br /> s �► <br /> ORDINANCE NO. /9/ - 7 )--"- <br /> AN <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing authorization for the <br /> City of Everett Chief of Police to accept funds for <br /> investigation of sale of narcotics and dangerous drugs. <br /> 1 <br /> 2 WHEREAS, it appears that the Superior Court of Snohomish <br /> 3 County in the exercise of its authority in imposing judgment and sentence <br /> 4 in criminal cases has ordered that particular defendants pay, as a part <br /> of such sentence, certain sums of money to certain cities and the County <br /> 5 to be used by law enforcement agencies in the investigation and appre- <br /> 6 hension of persons involved in the illicit sale of drugs, and <br /> WHEREAS, it appears that the Snohomish County Superior Court <br /> 7 <br /> will continue to impose such condition in appropriate cases, <br /> 8 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 9 Section l: That the City of Everett Police Department is authorized <br /> and directed to accept such funds as the Snohomish County Superior Court <br /> 10 <br /> shall order paid, or any other municipality or court or person or organi- <br /> 11 zation shall tender, to be spent and applied for the purpose of investigation <br /> 12 and apprehension of persons criminally involved in the illicit sale or dis- <br /> tribution of narcotic or dangerous drugs or controlled substances. More <br /> 13 <br /> specifically, such monies as are accepted are to be a fund (Account Code <br /> 14 031-351- 11 -000-00) under the control of the Chief of Police for the purchase <br /> 15 of such drugs and substances, and proof thereof, as well as for such <br /> expenses (Account Code 031-521- 10-000-42) as the Chief of Police shall <br /> 16 <br /> determine are reasonably and necessarily incident thereto, PROVIDED <br /> 17 that the Chief of Police shall be responsible for implementation and <br /> 18 maintenance of such bookkeeping as will record (a) advancement of funds <br /> to particular persons for potential use; (b) actual use of sums so advanced; <br /> 19 <br /> (c) recovery of funds so spent, if any; and (d) return to the Chief of Police <br /> 20 of funds advanced but not expended.
