" 1"ai <br /> AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE AMENDING, SUPPLEMENTATION, <br /> CHANGE OR MODIFICATION OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br /> OF EVERETT AND SETTING FORTH THE PROCEDURE THEREFOR AND <br /> AMENDING ORDINANCE No. 3572, SECTION 21, AS AMENDED, (EVERETT <br /> CITY CODE 15. 04. 430). <br /> WHEREAS, Section 5. 4 of the Charter of the City of Everett, <br /> effective 1968, directs that there shall be a Planning Commission which shall <br /> be an advisory board with the duty of making recommendations to the Council, <br /> Mayor and other City Departments on the City's broad planning goals and <br /> policies and on such plans for the development of the city as its present <br /> and future needs may require, and <br /> WHEREAS, the execution of the above described duties of the <br /> Planning Commission require that the Planning Commission review and <br /> make recommendations regarding proposed amendments, supplementations, <br /> changes or modifications of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Everett: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Everett City code 15. 04. 430 (Ordinance No. 3572, Section 21 as <br /> amended) is hereby amended in full to read hereafter as follows: <br /> "15.04.430 Amendments <br /> (a) By subsequent ordinances the City Council may amend, supple <br /> ment, change, or modify this ordinance or any part thereof. Amendments <br /> to this ordinance shall be initiated in the following manner only: <br /> 1. Motion of the City Council. The City Council may by resolu- <br /> tion, request or motion require that due notice be given, public <br /> hearing held, and recommendation be given by the Planning <br /> Commission to the City Council regarding an amendment, supple- <br /> mentation, change or modification of this ordinance or any part <br /> thereof. <br /> 2. Motion of the Planning Commission. The Planning Commissio <br /> of its own motion, after due notice and public hearing, may submit <br /> to the City Council a recommendation for amendment, supplementation, <br /> change or modification of this ordinance or any part thereof. <br /> 3. Petition. The Planning Commission shall accept a petition <br /> from an owner, or the authorized representative of an owner, of <br /> property within an area proposed for zoning reclassification. <br /> Such petition shall list the names, mailing addresses, and proper- <br /> ty descriptions of the legal owners and/or contract purchasers <br /> of property proposed for reclassification and the names, mailing <br /> addresses, and property descriptions of the legal owners and/or <br /> contract purchasers, certified by petitioner to be correct, of all <br /> property within a distance of 300 feet from the boundaries of the <br />
