June 23, 2017 G-4400 Underpinning Evaluation Page 5 2514- 515`Street SW,Everett TEMPORARY EXCAVATION Approximately 1 foot of excavation is needed below the bottom of the foundation wall/footing to install the pier bracket. The bottom of the foundation footing is estimated at about 1 foot below the existing floor slab of the basement,so a 2 foot deep excavation is anticipated if the piers are installed from the interior side of the basement. We understand the piers will be installed from the exterior side of the structure and an excavation depth of about 4 feet is anticipated. The sidewalls of the excavations should be sloped back at 1 H:1 V (Horizontal:Vertical) if the excavations are over 4 feet in depth,or temporary shoring should be installed..
