SUBSTATIONS 11-1 AND 11-2 SECTION 26 11 16
PROJECT#22349762 SECONDARY UNIT SUBSTATIONS
BOEING- EVERETT SITE SERVICES
mechanical trip button located on the front of the breaker. Mechanical trip shall be
accessible without opening the compartment door.
11. Electrically operated breakers shall utilize a motor automatically charge the closing
springs. Breakers control shall be provided on the face of the breaker cells. Tripping
shall be via shunt trip coil. Closing shall be via spring release coil. Provide red and
green LED type lights for each breaker for open/close indication.
12. All circuit breakers shall be 3 pole devices with visual indication of CONNECT, TEST
and DISCONNECTED positions.
a. All breakers shall have GE MDP relays with a combination of long time, short
time, and instantaneous tripping characteristics, and ground fault protection.
b. Tie breaker shall have the same characteristics as the main breaker and shall be
interchangeable.
c. Power will be provided from a CPT for electrically operated breakers at 120VAC
for trip, charge and close. Each control power transformer shall be suitably sized
to accommodate total switchgear auxiliary loads.
d. All breakers shall be equipped with capacitor trip unit, model CTD-2.
13. Mechanical rejection devices are to be installed to inhibit installation of breakers of
different frame ratings.
14. Provide cleats mounted on the structure for cable supports, for each feeder.
15. Provide a continuous copper ground bus through the medium voltage switchgear with
bronze ground lugs at each end of the substation lineup for connection to a 250Kcmil
AWG bare copper grounding conductor, and for each feeder. Ground each arrester,
transformer core, case, etc., separately to the ground bus.
16. Provide engraved black on white phenolic nameplates on all compartments. Mount
nameplates with screws. Nameplates shall identify feeder designation, trip rating and
cell designation.
17. Breaker compartments identified as PROV. Shall be equipped for future installation of
the feeder breaker, including racking rails and bussing. Provide with secondary
disconnecting contacts, control switch, indicating lights, CT's and MDP relay.
18. Provide automatically operating insulated shutters to cover line and load connections
in all main, tie, feeder, and space cells.
19. Tie breaker Compartment.
a. Provide a separate vertical section compartment to house only the tie breaker
and associated busing.
b. Provide a full metal barrier between the front breaker cell and the main bus
connections.
B. Control Power Transformer: Provide suitably sized 120VAC secondary control power
transformers to provide control power to the medium voltage secondary switchgear and
the transformer fans. Primary and secondary fusing shall be provided. Locate in
accessible cubicle of switchgear to allow maintenance without shutting down 2400V
power to medium voltage switchgear.
C. Control Wiring: Stranded copper, SIS type. Enclose control wiring size No. 14 AWG,
Type SIS in top and vertical metal wiring troughs and front-to-rear metal wiring troughs;
furnish necessary fuse blocks and terminal blocks within the switchgear when required.
Provide the terminal blocks in a metal enclosed wiring trough for all groups of control
wires for interconnection within or leaving the switchgear mounted in the rear cable
compartment, easily accessible, away from the runbacks and cable terminals, and with a
bolted steel cover over the terminal blocks. Bus taps only shall be No. 8 AWG SIS wire.
D. Provide terminal blocks for interconnection of control wiring across shipping splits by
terminal blocks in the control wiring trough on top of the equipment. All terminations shall
26 11 16- 11
(07/15/18)
