j. 1Door leading from west basement into west stairway area.
9. What do you think?
Rick
Original Message
From: Brad Olson
Sent: Tuesday,February 03,2004 14:56
To: Rick Robinson
Cc: Tim Tyler;Warren Bums;Steve Miller; Dave Wilson;Jim Venturo;Tony Lee
Subject: 2818 Wetmore
Rick,
As you know, I've forwarded some drawings for Berry Special Espresso to you for review. This is the same
occupancy that we attempted to inspect yesterday but were unable to because Toni Edenholm didn't show. Ms.
Edenholm subsequently phoned me and requested that I meet her(again). I met her at the above address and had
some concerns that I wanted to pass along. I am cc.ing Venturo and Wilson because I believe they did a walk through
with Steve Miller and Ms. Edenholm a couple of weeks ago.
The building has several problems regarding separation between floors, stair construction, vertical shafts, and egress.
It also has a App.1A basement.
The building has a set of glass doors that access the main entry area off Wetmore. This entry area contains a set of
double doors to the basement, one door to the upstairs, and a set of double doors to the main floor. All these doors
should be self closing fire doors and the doors to the main floor should have panic hardware. All egress from the
building (currently) has problems. The building is not in use at this time, but does have some storage.
The basement will need to be handled like any 1A basement(much > 1500 sq. ft. and no direct access to the outside).
Vertical shafts(it has a service elevator)will need to comply with Sec. 3 of App.1 A.
The upstairs has problems with egress as well.
We should probably set up a meeting with the owners after you have a chance to look at the plans.
Thanks, Brad
2
