The table shall include <br /> special requirements for seismic and wind resisting systems as required by IBC Sections <br /> 1704.3.2 and 1704.3.3, respectively. See IBC Sections 107.1, 1704.2.3 and 1704.3. <br /> 2. The project includes work that will be performed on the premises of fabricators'shops. <br /> Special inspections are required to be performed by the fabricators unless they are <br /> registered and approved to perform work without special inspections. The General <br /> Structural Notes on Sheet S1.1 shall be revised to list work being performed by approved <br /> fabricators. Work not being performed by approved fabricators should be added to the list <br /> of special inspections. See IBC Sections 1704.2.5, 1704.2.5.1, and Section 1704.5 Items 1 <br /> and 2. The following work shall be specified in the notes: <br /> a. Prefabricated steel structures (IBC Sections 1705.2 and 2205.2.1.2 and AISC 341-10 <br /> Chapter J). <br /> 3. The"Concrete" section of the General Structural Notes on Sheet S1.0 specify a concrete <br /> strength of 2,500 psi. The project appears to include concrete elements that are exposed to <br /> freeze-thaw cycles, water, and de-icing chemical, and qualify as Class F3 and C2 concrete <br /> per ACI 318-14 Table 19.3.1.1. Per ACI 318-14 Table 19.3.2.1, the minimum concrete <br /> strength for Class F3 and C2 concrete is 5,000 psi. The minimum concrete strength on <br /> Sheet S1.0 shall be revised as required. See IBC Section 1901.2. <br /> 4. Sheets S3.0 and S4.0 include 4- and 6-stall carport structures that are not used in the <br /> project. These sheets should be removed from the construction drawing set. See IBC <br /> Section 107.2.1. <br /> 5. The project requires a building wall on the south side. See Architectural Comment 3 above. <br /> Structural details and calculations shall be provided for the design of the wall as required. <br /> Where the wall is vertically or laterally supported by the carport structure, the carport <br /> design shall be revised as needed. Where the wall is self-supporting, the wall shall be <br /> provided with adequate separation per ASCE 7-10 Section 12.12.3. See additional <br /> comments below. See IBC Sections 1604.1, 1604.4, and 1613.1. <br /> Foundation System: <br /> 6. The Column Footing in Detail 01/S2.0 appears to be unreinforced. See IBC Section 1901.2. <br /> The following comments shall be addressed: <br /> a. The foundation shall be provided with the minimum ratios of longitudinal and transverse <br /> reinforcement per ACI 318-14 Sections 10.6.1 and 10.6.2, respectively. <br /> b. The embedded steel column induces high stresses at the initial point of embedment. <br /> The foundation shall be provided with additional shear reinforcement per ACI 318-14 <br /> Section 10.7.6.1.6. <br /> Gravity System: <br /> 7. The structural design appears to have been designed considering a balanced snow load <br /> only. See IBC Section 1608.1.
