I 9 <br /> 10 9-28.10 Vacant <br /> 11 This section, including title, is revised to read: <br /> 12 U <br /> 13 9-28.10 Digital Printing <br /> 14 Transparent and opaque durable inks used in digital printed sign messages shall be as <br /> 15 recommended by the manufacturer. When properly applied, digital printed colors shall have <br /> I <br /> 16 a warranty life of the base retroreflective sign sheeting. Digital applied colors shall present a <br /> 17 smooth surface, free from foreign material, and all messages and borders shall be clear <br /> 18 and sharp. Digital printed signs shall conform to 70% of the retroreflective minimum values 11119 established for its type and color. Digitally printed signs shall meet the daytime color and <br /> 20 luminance, and nighttime color requirements of ASTM D 4956. No variations in color or <br /> 21 overlapping of colors will be permitted. Digital printed permanent traffic signs shall have an <br /> 22 integrated engineered match component clear protective overlay recommended by the r <br /> 23 sheeting manufacturer applied to the entire face of the sign. On Temporary <br /> 24 construction/maintenance signs printed with black ink only, the protective overlay film is <br /> 25 optional, as long as the finished sign has a warranty of a minimum of three years from sign <br /> I <br /> 26 sheeting manufacturer. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 All digital printed traffic control signs shall be an integrated engineered match component <br /> I <br /> 29 system. The integrated engineered match component system shall consist of retroreflective <br /> 30 sheeting, durable ink(s), and clear overlay film all from the same manufacturer applied to <br /> 31 aluminum substrate conforming to Section 9-28.8. <br /> 32 <br /> I <br /> 33 The sign fabricator shall use an approved integrated engineered match component system <br /> 34 as listed on the Qualified Products List (QPL). Each approved digital printer shall only use <br /> 35 the compatible retroreflective sign sheeting manufacturer's engineered match component I <br /> 36 system products. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Each retroreflective sign sheeting manufacturer/integrated engineered match component I 39 system listed on the QPL shall certify a department approved sign fabricator is approved to <br /> 40 operate their compatible digital printer. The sign fabricator shall re-certify annually with the <br /> 41 retroreflective sign manufacturer to ensure their digital printer is still meeting manufacturer's <br /> 42 specifications for traffic control signs. Documentation of each re-certification shall be <br /> I <br /> 43 submitted to the QPL Engineer annually. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 9-28.11 Hardware <br /> I <br /> 46 The last paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 47 <br /> 48 All steel parts shall be galvanized in accordance with AASHTO M111.
