I <br /> 1 off blast shall bereared in accordance with SSPC-SP 3, Power Tool Cleaning, <br /> p p as <br /> 2 allowed by the Engineer. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 The first sentence of the third paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Following brush-off blast cleaning, the Contractor shall perform spot abrasive blast cleaning <br /> 7 in accordance with SSPC-SP 6, Commercial Blast Cleaning. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 The second to last sentence of the third paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 10 <br /> 11 For small areas, as allowed by the Engineer, the Contractor may substitute cleaning in <br /> 12 accordance with SSPC-SP 15, Commercial Grade Power Tool Cleaning. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 6-07.3(10)G Treatment of Pack and Rust Gaps <br /> 15 The second paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Pack rust forming a gap between steel surfaces of%16 to 1/4 inch shall be cleaned to a depth <br /> 18 of at least one half of the gap width. The gaps shall be cleaned and prepared in accordance <br /> 19 with SSPC-SP6. The cleaned gap shall be treated with rust penetrating sealer, prime <br /> 20 coated, and then caulked to form a watertight seal along the top edge and the two sides of <br /> 21 the steel pieces involved, using the rust penetrating sealer and caulk as accepted by the <br /> 22 Engineer. The bottom edge or lowest edge of the steel pieces involved shall not be caulked. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 The third paragraph is supplemented with the following: <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Caulk shall be a single-component urethane sealant conforming to Section 9-08.7. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 The fifth paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 29 <br /> 30 At locations where gaps between steel surfaces exceed 1/4 inch, the Contractor shall clean <br /> 31 and prepare the gap in accordance SSPC-SP6, apply the rust penetrating sealer, apply the <br /> 32 prime coat, and then fill the gap with foam backer rod material as accepted by the <br /> 33 Engineer. The foam backer rod material shall be of sufficient diameter to fill the crevice or <br /> 34 gap. The Contractor shall apply caulk over the foam backer rod material to form a <br /> 35 watertight seal. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 This section is supplemented with the following new paragraph: <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Caulk and backer rod, if needed, shall be placed prior to applying the top coat. The <br /> 40 Contractor, with the concurrence of the Engineer, may apply the rust penetrating sealer <br /> 41 after application of the prime coat provided the primer is removed in the areas to be sealed. <br /> 42 The areas to be sealed shall be re-cleaned and re-prepared in accordance with SSPC-SP6. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 6-07.3(10)H Paint System <br /> 45 The first paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 46 <br /> 47 The paint system applied to existing steel surfaces shall consist of the following five-coat <br /> 48 system: <br /> 49 <br /> 50 Option 1 (component based system): <br /> City of Everett Page AM-52 Amendments <br /> Everett Station 80 Stall Parking Expansion June 2019 <br /> 1 <br />
