I
11
2 The first sentence of the third to last paragraph is revised to read:
I 3
4 Where existing steel reinforcing bars inside deck repair areas show deterioration greater
5 than 20-percent section loss, the Contractor shall furnish and place steel reinforcing bars
I
6 alongside the deteriorated bars in accordance with the details shown in the Standard Plans.
7
8 The last paragraph is deleted.
9
I10 6-09.3(7) Surface Preparation for Concrete Overlay
11 The first seven paragraphs are deleted and replaced with the following:
12
I
13 Following the completion of any required further deck preparation the entire lane or strip
14 being overlaid shall be cleaned to be free from oil and grease, rust and other foreign
15 material that may still be present. These materials shall be removed by detergent-cleaning
I 16 or other method accepted by the Engineer followed by sandblasting.
17
18 After detergent cleaning and sandblasting is completed, the entire lane or strip being
I 19 overlaid shall be cleaned in final preparation for placing concrete.
20
21 Hand tool chipping, sandblasting and cleaning in areas adjacent to a lane or strip being
22 cleaned in final preparation for placing concrete shall be discontinued when final
I 23 preparation is begun. Scarifying and hand tool chipping shall remain suspended until the
24 concrete has been placed and the requirement for curing time has been satisfied.
25 Sandblasting and cleaning shall remain suspended for the first 24 hours of curing time after
26 the completion of concrete placing.
27
28 Scarification, and removal of the upper layer of concrete overlay when present, may
I
29 proceed during the final cleaning and overlay placement phases of the Work on adjacent
30 portions of the Structure so long as the scarification and concrete overlay removal
31 operations are confined to areas which are a minimum of 100 feet away from the defined
32 limits of the final cleaning or overlay placement in progress. If the scarification and concrete
I 33 overlay removal impedes or interferes in any way with the final cleaning or overlay
34 placement as determined by the Engineer, the scarification and concrete overlay removal
35 Work shall be terminated immediately and the scarification and concrete overlay removal
I 36 equipment removed sufficiently away from the area being prepared or overlaid to eliminate
37 the conflict. If the grade is such that water and contaminants from the scarification and
38 concrete overlay removal operation will flow into the area being prepared or overlaid, the
I39 scarification and concrete overlay removal operation shall be terminated and shall remain
40 suspended for the first 24 hours of curing time after the completion of concrete placement.
41
42 6-09.3(11) Placing Concrete Overlay
1 43 The first sentence of item number 3 in the fourth paragraph is revised to read:
44
45 Concrete shall not be placed when the temperature of the concrete surface is less than
I
46
47 45°F or greater than 75°F, and wind velocity at the construction site is in excess of 10 mph.
48 6-09.3(12) Finishing Concrete Overlay
I 49 The third paragraph is deleted.
50
I City of EverettPage AM 63 Amendments
Everett Station 80 Stall Parking Expansion June 2019
I
