I
1
2 A cleated roller, crawler tractor, or similar equipment, which forms longitudinal depressions
I
3
4 at least 2 inches deep shall be used for compaction and preparation of the surface to be
seeded. The entire area shall be uniformly covered with longitudinal depressions formed
5 perpendicular to the natural flow of water on the slope. The soil shall be conditioned with
I 6 sufficient water so the longitudinal depressions remain in the soil surface until completion of
7 the seeding.
8
I 9 8-01.3(2)A1 Seeding
10 This section is deleted in its entirety.
11
12 8-01.3(2)A2 Temporary Seeding
I 13 This section is deleted in its entirety.
14
15 8-01.3(2)B Seeding and Fertilizing
I 16 This section, including title, is revised to read:
17
18 8-01.3(2)B Temporary Seeding
I19 Temporary grass seed shall be a commercially prepared mix, made up of low growing grass
20 species that will grow without irrigation at the project location, and accepted by the
21 Engineer. The application rate shall be two pounds per 1000 square feet.
22
I23 The Contractor shall notify the Engineer not less than 24 hours in advance of any seeding
24 operation and shall not begin the Work until areas prepared or designated for seeding have
25 been accepted. Following the Engineer's acceptance, seeding of the accepted slopes shall
I 26 begin immediately.
27
28 Temporary seeding may be sown at any time allowed by the Engineer. Temporary seeding
I
29
30 shall be sown by one of the following methods:
31 1. A hydro seeder that utilizes water as the carrying agent, and maintains continuous
I32 agitation through paddle blades. It shall have an operating capacity sufficient to
33 agitate, suspend, and mix into a homogeneous slurry the specified amount of
34 seed and water or other material. Distribution and discharge lines shall be large
35 enough to prevent stoppage and shall be equipped with a set of hydraulic
I 36
37 discharge spray nozzles that will provide a uniform distribution of the slurry.
38 2. Blower equipment with an adjustable disseminating device capable of maintaining
I
39
40 a constant, measured rate of material discharge that will ensure an even
distribution of seed at the rates specified.
41
42 3. Power-drawn drills or seeders.
1 43
44 4. Areas in which the above methods are impractical may be seeded by hand
45 methods.
I 46
47 When seeding by hand, the seed shall be incorporated into the top 1/4 inch of soil by hand
48 raking or other method that is allowed by the Engineer.
I 49
I City of EverettPage AM 77 Amendments
Everett Station 80 Stall Parking Expansion June 2019
